Where Axonaut Performs Best

Simple invoices with standard VAT: Axonaut excels here. A standard service invoice with 20% TVA is generated in Factur-X EN 16931 without any configuration needed.

Quotes-to-invoices workflow: Like Sellsy, Axonaut has a clean quote → invoice conversion. Create a quote, client accepts, one click converts to a Factur-X invoice.

Where There Are Limitations

Complex VAT situations: Mixed-rate invoices (e.g., 20% + 10% on the same invoice) are supported, but the UI can be confusing for users unfamiliar with French TVA categories. Test your specific scenario before going live.

Extended profile: Axonaut only generates EN 16931 (Confort). If a customer requires the Extended profile, Axonaut is not the right tool.

Chorus Pro Integration

Axonaut's Chorus Pro integration works for B2G invoicing (invoices to French public bodies). Setup is straightforward:

Enable B2G mode for the relevant customer in Axonaut
Enter the recipient's SIRET and engagement number (numéro d'engagement)
Invoice is transmitted to Chorus Pro via the Axonaut interface

Tested with Chorus Pro sandbox: ✅ Invoice delivered successfully. Status notifications (received, paid) correctly sync back to Axonaut.

Mandate Timeline for Axonaut's Target Users

Axonaut's primary users (freelancers, TPE/PME below €1.5B revenue) are subject to the September 2028 phase of France's mandate — the last phase covering all remaining VAT-registered businesses.

This means Axonaut users have until September 2028. However:

The receiving obligation (being able to receive Factur-X from suppliers) may come earlier — check with your PDP/PPF account
Businesses that invoice grandes entreprises may find their enterprise customers requesting Factur-X delivery earlier (from September 2026) for their own receiving compliance

Given this context, Axonaut's current Factur-X capability is actually adequate for preparing early, even if the PDP routing isn't yet certified.

Expense Tracking and Receipt Capture

A feature not related to e-invoicing but genuinely useful: Axonaut includes expense tracking with receipt scanning. The mobile app captures receipts and logs them as expenses. This integrates with invoicing for expense reimbursements to clients.

For freelancers who invoice client expenses (consultants, photographers, project managers), this reduces the manual work of reconciling receipts with reimbursement invoices.

HR and Time Tracking

Axonaut includes basic HR functionality: employee records, leave tracking, and time entry. For solo businesses this is overkill, but for small teams of 3–10, having invoicing and HR in one subscription saves cost.

Time entries connect directly to project billing — log time, generate invoice from time records.
