DATEV Updates XRechnung 3.0 Module Ahead of Germany's 2027 Sending Mandate
DATEV has released an updated e-invoice module supporting XRechnung 3.0 schema changes from KoSIT, positioning its 350,000+ German SME customers for the 2027 sending mandate.
DATEV, Germany's largest accounting software provider for SMEs and tax advisors, has released version updates across its core products โ DATEV Unternehmen Online, DATEV Mittelstand Faktura, and DATEV Kanzlei-Rechnungswesen โ to support the updated XRechnung 3.0 schema.
What Changed in XRechnung 3.0
KoSIT (the German coordination body for IT standards) updated the XRechnung specification in late 2025. The main changes:
- New payment means codes: Additional SEPA payment identifiers added to the standard
- Buyer reference field: Now mandatory in all B2B XRechnung invoices (not just B2G)
- VAT exemption reasons: Extended codelist aligned with EN 16931 updates
- Leitweg-ID format validation: Stricter regex enforcement in the KoSIT validator
Impact on DATEV Customers
According to DATEV, the update is deployed automatically for cloud customers and available as an update package for on-premise installations. Tax advisors using DATEV tools should ensure their clients' invoices are validated with the updated KoSIT validator.
What SMEs Need to Do
If you use DATEV and receive structured e-invoices, no action is required โ DATEV handles parsing. If you will need to send structured e-invoices (revenue >โฌ800k from 2027), ensure you are on the latest DATEV module version and test generation with the KoSIT online validator.
