Slovakia's Financial Administration Runs Seven Free eFaktúra Conferences This September

Slovakia's Financial Administration is holding seven free regional conferences between 7 and 30 September 2026 to walk businesses, accountants, and sole traders through practical eFaktúra implementation ahead of the 1 January 2027 mandate — with more than half of the 1,900 seats already reserved.

With Slovakia's mandatory eFaktúra (IS EFA) B2B e-invoicing regime just four months from its 1 January 2027 start date, the Finančná správa (Financial Administration) has organised a series of free regional conferences to help businesses prepare.

Seven Regions, Late September

Between 7 and 30 September 2026, the Financial Administration is running conferences across seven regions: Žilina, Trenčín, Prešov, Košice, Trnava, Nitra, and Banská Bystrica. Roughly 1,900 seats were made available across the series, and more than half had already been reserved shortly after registration opened, reflecting strong demand from businesses that have not yet engaged with the voluntary transition period running since 1 January 2026.

What the Sessions Cover

The conferences focus on practical implementation rather than legal theory: the new obligations under the eFaktúra system, technical integration options, and specific implementation scenarios relevant to different business types — including accountants, sole traders, public-sector bodies, and NGOs. Financial Administration specialists covering taxation, IT, digitalisation, and fraud prevention are attending to answer questions directly.

Why This Matters

Slovakia's mandate, which takes effect 1 January 2027 for domestic B2B and B2G transactions, routes structured EN 16931 XML invoices through accredited "Digital Postman" (Digitálny Poštár) intermediaries over the Peppol network — a decentralized model distinct from Poland's KSeF or Italy's SDI. A voluntary transition period has been open since the start of 2026 to let businesses and software vendors test the system, but adoption has been gradual, which is likely why the Financial Administration is now investing in direct, in-person outreach rather than relying solely on published guidance.

Separate changes to Slovakia's VAT Act tied to the e-invoicing rollout take effect from 1 July 2027, and cross-border B2B transactions fall under the EU's ViDA framework from 1 July 2030 rather than the domestic 2027 deadline.

What Businesses Trading in Slovakia Should Do

  1. Register early if attending — seats are filling quickly across the seven regional dates
  2. If you can't attend in person, treat this as a signal to start testing during the voluntary 2026 window rather than waiting for the mandatory deadline
  3. Confirm your accounting/ERP vendor's Digital Postman routing is confirmed for Slovakia specifically — generic Peppol support elsewhere in the EU does not guarantee compatibility
